Dark Monarchy

The Met Gala is arguably the biggest fashion event of the year. Held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Met Gala is the epitome of glamour, drama, and intrigue for all who attend.

The 2023 theme of the Gala–Dark Monarchy–celebrates the lush and opulent reign of King Henry VIII. My campaign opens up the exclusive Met Gala to social media followers who can vote "Reign," "Marry," or "Kill" for each fashion choice. The campaign allows all to celebrate the eccentricity of high fashion.

Social Media Campaign

The social media campaign focused on user engagement and playing along. These Instagram posts use the branding elements of the painted x’s, Reign, Marry, Kill text wallpaper, the filigree shape and, most importantly the obscured dark monarch.

Instagram Stories

This image highlights the instragram story where users are invited to engage with this year’s Met Gala theme by voting “Reign, Marry, Kill.”

Landing Page

With accessibility always at the top of my mind it wasn’t enough for the elements to be technically accessible. I took it a step further by adding an accessibility preference option in the navigation. By enabling accessibility the logo and hero section get backed with a darker color so that the logo is viewable for all. Additional changes have been made to the type choices, including swapping out for non-utilized text and adding more line spacing. Finally, decorative elements like the x’s have been pushed further to the side and the text pattern below the testimonials was removed to allow for easier cognitive processing.
